Bungan Beach
Bungan is the Northern Beaches at its most undiscovered — a 600-metre stretch of sand with no road access at all, reached only by a steep walking track down through the headland. There’s no big car park to compete for, which means even in summer it rarely feels crowded.
A handful of surfers know it well for its consistent break; everyone else tends to miss it entirely, which is exactly why the ones who do find it keep coming back. Bungan Castle, a curious little 1919 lookout above the beach, is a reminder that this stretch of coast has always drawn people looking to get away from things. Unpatrolled and a little wild, Bungan rewards anyone willing to make the walk down.
